Give your healing
more room.
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a focused treatment that helps people work through trauma and distressing memories using guided eye movements and imagery. An ART Intensive with Dr. Summer Sullivan gives you dedicated time for that work, then space to integrate and settle before you leave. It is therapy, not drawing or art-making.
When the hour ends before the work feels finished.
Weekly therapy can be deeply valuable. And sometimes, when you are working with a painful memory or a strong body response, you wish you had more time to stay with it. An intensive makes room to prepare, process at a pace that fits you, and reconnect with yourself before returning to the rest of your day.
Focused ART work, followed by a gentle landing.
Accelerated Resolution Therapy uses guided eye movements and imagery techniques to work with distressing experiences and the reactions connected to them. You remain aware and in control; you do not need to describe every painful detail aloud.
Our time together also includes grounding and breaks when needed. At the end, Dr. Sullivan guides a meditation shaped by the work you have done together. With your permission, that meditation is recorded so you can revisit your own practice at home.
What could you work on?
We will identify a realistic focus during your clinical planning session. Some concerns require additional sessions or another kind of care.
Thoughtful from start to finish.
Connect
A complimentary 15-minute call helps us discuss your goals and basic fit. It is not a clinical assessment.
Prepare
A separate 50-minute planning session, by secure video or in person, helps us assess needs, choose a focus, and plan support.
Process & settle
Meet in person in Pinecrest for three hours of paced ART work, breaks as needed, reflection, and a closing guided meditation.
Take it with you
Receive the recording of your session meditation, with your permission, and a personalized handout of coping and regulation practices.
Keep the support you know.
An intensive can be a focused addition to ongoing therapy. If you already have a therapist, we ask that they support the plan. With your written authorization, Dr. Sullivan can coordinate with them about the focus and follow-through.
Teens are welcome. Parent or guardian consent and participation in planning will be discussed with attention to the teen's treatment needs and privacy.
An intentional investment in your care.
Three-hour package
In person at our Pinecrest office, following a separate clinical planning session.
Weekend intensive
For those who need protected time away from the weekday routine.
Both packages include the complimentary 15-minute fit call, a separate 50-minute clinical planning session by secure video or in person, a three-hour in-person intensive, your recorded session meditation if you consent to recording, and a personalized coping handout.
Self-pay; insurance is not accepted for the package. Credit card, debit card, cash, and check accepted. A deposit is required in advance; the remaining balance is due before the intensive. At least 72 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule. Full deposit terms and any applicable credit-card fee will be disclosed before payment.
A few things to know.
Will I have to tell every detail of what happened?
No. ART can allow meaningful work without a detailed verbal retelling. We will discuss your comfort and the approach in planning.
Does the three-hour appointment include breaks?
Yes. Breaks, grounding, and your closing guided meditation are part of the three-hour appointment.
Can I keep seeing my own therapist?
Yes. When you are in ongoing therapy, we ask that your therapist supports the plan and that you authorize coordination.
Is one intensive enough?
That depends on your goals and circumstances. We will choose a realistic focus and discuss what support could be helpful afterward. No particular outcome can be guaranteed.
Is a follow-up appointment included?
The package includes a take-home plan and tools. A separate follow-up therapy appointment can be arranged if appropriate; it is not included in the package fee.
Is this the right care if I am in crisis?
An intensive may not be the right fit if you need immediate crisis care, are actively unsafe, or need a higher level of support. We assess fit before scheduling.
ART research in adults with PTSD symptoms has shown promising results; further high-quality research is needed. The available studies do not establish that the intensive format is superior to weekly ART. Read the 2024 research review.
