While hours and availabilities vary per therapist, our offices are open Monday through Saturday, 8am to 9pm.

We know how difficult it can be with busy schedules to make time for therapy. We believe that mental health should be a priority, so we do our best to offer extended hours to help you get the support you deserve.

Please call our office to find a day and time that works for you.

Do you offer telehealth (online virtual therapy) sessions?2024-02-14T12:50:32+00:00

Yes, we offer online therapy sessions through a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform (which means that your confidentiality is protected in an online environment).

Telehealth counseling has many benefits and has been proven to be just effective as in-person sessions. In can also eliminate some barriers to treatment such as: busy work schedules, lack of transportation, Miami traffic jams, and can be a great option for new parents who cannot leave their children at home.

If you’ve been thinking about starting therapy but wondering how it could fit into your life, now is the perfect time to try teletherapy!

How do I know which therapist is right for me?2024-02-14T12:51:25+00:00

We believe that the match between a client and his or her therapist is one of the most important predictors of whether therapy will be beneficial (and enjoyable!). Because of this, we are committed to helping you match with a therapist that will be a great fit for your current therapeutic needs.

On your initial call with our office, Liz, our office manager, will spend time getting to know your needs and preferences for a therapist and will guide you through the process of finding your match. You can also read about each of our therapists on our website and request a session with the one that catches your eye.

What happens if I have to cancel my appointment?2024-02-14T12:52:01+00:00

It is important that you regularly attend your scheduled appointments, but we are aware that sometimes life can get in the way. That’s why there is no fee for appointments cancelled with a 24-hour notice.

For any appointment that is cancelled without 24 hours’ notice, you will be charged a cancellation fee (standard rate of session). You can cancel via phone or email. Any courtesies or exceptions related to cancellation fees are to the therapist’s discretion.

Please understand that we are not able to bill insurance companies for missed or cancelled appointments.

How much are your self-pay rates?2024-02-14T12:52:28+00:00

We offer different types of services, which have different self-pay rates:

Intake Session (50-60 minutes): $200 to $300

Individual Therapy Sessions (50 minutes): $150 to $250

Couples or Family Therapy Sessions (50 minutes): $175 to $275

Testing: Please contact our office to discuss our fees for psychological, psychoeducational, neuropsychological, and gifted evaluations.

If you were hoping to be seen at our office but have an economic hardship, we will try to work with you. We do not want finances to be a barrier for receiving quality treatment. Please contact our office and let Liz, our office manager, know you would like to be considered for a reduced rate.

Do you offer a good faith estimate?2024-02-14T12:54:05+00:00

The No Surprises Act Disclosure states that you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your behavioral health care will cost. This is for clients/patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

South Miami Psychology Group will present you with the session fees up front prior to your testing or therapy sessions. Your therapist will discuss with you the recommended course for the number of treatment or testing sessions relating to your treatment goals.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, please feel free to contact the CPC center at (412) 624-8822, or visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

How can I pay for therapy?2024-02-14T12:54:54+00:00

Payment is due at the time services are rendered, unless other arrangements have been made in advance.

Our office accepts cash, checks, and major credit cards. We can also email you a secure link so that you can pay conveniently online.

Do you accept insurance?2024-02-14T12:55:39+00:00

Our therapists are currently not providers with any insurance panels. As a courtesy we will file for most PPO insurances and the insurance will process and send payment directly to the policyholder. We do not file for HMO or Medicare/Medicaid policies. We can also provide you with a detailed statement that you can submit directly to your insurance company. The policyholder/responsible party is responsible for obtaining any authorizations/certifications required prior to services, as well as for follow-up on any outstanding claims. Please contact our office to find out more. There are additional fees for services not covered by insurance companies, such as extended phone calls exceeding 15 minutes; excessive emails; review of medical records; preparation of letters; and, in legal cases, preparation and travel.

What happens during the first session?2024-02-14T12:56:19+00:00

During the initial session, you and your therapist will take the first steps in establishing a relationship that will become the foundation of your therapy together. You will begin to share your story, what brought you into the office, and your personal goals for treatment.

You can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable during this initial appointment. Your therapist will guide you in this process by asking you questions to gather relevant information that can be used to make treatment goals and, more importantly, to help you feel safe and secure with the therapeutic process and to get to know you.

This is also a time where you can ask any questions you might have about the therapeutic process, confidentiality, office policies, etc.

Is what I say in therapy confidential?2024-02-14T12:56:58+00:00

Yes. Our team at SMPG treats all client-therapist conversations as private and confidential. We are governed by Florida laws regarding confidentiality and cannot share your information with anyone without your written consent.

However, there are a few exceptions to confidentiality. For example, in the case of child abuse, elder abuse, or significant risk of self-harm or harm to others, then we may be required by law to communicate to a third party.

When you meet with your therapist for the first time, he or she will go over confidentiality with you, so come prepared with any questions or concerns you might have.

How long is therapy and how many sessions will it take until I feel better?2024-02-14T12:57:29+00:00

The answer to those questions depends on many factors. When you meet with your therapist for the first time, you will discuss a treatment plan that you feel comfortable with and supports your goals for therapy.

Most commonly, people come to therapy once a week for a 50-minute session; however, that can vary.

Therapy can last for however long it is deemed helpful and effective, which can be anywhere from a few sessions to several years.

What if I don’t live in Miami?2024-02-14T12:58:20+00:00

No problem! Our team of clinicians provide therapy for any potential client residing in the state of Florida.

Do you offer therapy in Spanish?2024-02-14T12:59:40+00:00

Yes! We have bilingual therapists that provide child and adult, as well as couples and family therapy in Spanish.

Is there coffee nearby?2024-02-14T13:00:13+00:00

Not only is there a Starbucks and a Pinecrest Bakery (did someone say Cuban coffee and croquetas) less than a mile from our office, we are also conveniently located across the street from Whole Foods Market and Target! Our clients love the fact that they can get groceries and meet with their therapist all on the same block. Checking errands off your list with a dose of therapeutic support = ultimate self-care rituals!

We also provide coffee, tea, and snacks as part of your therapeutic experience to help you feel right at home!
