Licensed Psychologist

One of the bravest steps we can take as human beings is seeking help.

Recognizing that we need support is often one of the most courageous decisions we ever make, and I applaud your bravery in taking this step. As your therapist, my primary aim is to provide you with a safe, nurturing environment in which to explore your feelings, confront challenging life situations, and celebrate your triumphs. Above all else, I am dedicated to helping you comprehend and genuinely feel that your worthiness is inherent, rooted not in what you do, but in the very fact that you exist.

Dr. Luz Berrio

I will help you understand and feel that you are WORTHY simply because you exist!

Should you find yourself struggling with anxiety, guilt, sadness, frustration, or navigating complex family and social dynamics, I am here to accompany you on your journey toward acceptance and transformation. I am not just a spectator in your life’s narrative but a fellow traveler committed to offering guidance when the path becomes rocky or uncertain.

With years of experience across a diverse range of settings, I am well-equipped to work with individuals from all age groups and all walks of life. My style is down-to-earth and personable, designed to foster an atmosphere of comfort and trust. I want you to feel not just comfortable but confident in our therapeutic journey, knowing that we are collaboratively invested in your well-being.

“Vulnerability is not winning or losing; it’s having the courage to show up and be seen when we have no control over the outcome.” – Brené Brown

And your children are absolutely enough, too– just the way they are.

I know it can be painful to watch your children suffer as well. Hearing them say critical comments about themselves and their self-worth is enough to break your heart.

You want so badly to teach your kids early on that they are unique and special just the way they are, but at times it’s a struggle – for you to articulate and for them to hear.

Whether your or your child’s unhappiness is a result of early traumas, unfit parents, bullying, mental health issues, or deep-rooted insecurities, YOU can learn to embrace it all and still love your life.

One of my greatest joys as a clinician, is helping children and teens thrive.

Navigating the journey of childhood and adolescence is like sailing uncharted waters. It can be exhilarating, confusing, and sometimes a little daunting. This period of life is packed with new experiences, rapidly changing bodies, developing minds, and a whirlwind of emotions. If you’re a young person, or a parent of one, and feeling a bit adrift, I’m here to guide you.

My approach to working with children and teenagers is shaped by an understanding that their needs are distinct from those of adults. As a therapist, I focus on creating a nonjudgmental environment where they feel seen, heard, and valued, allowing them to express their feelings, fears, and dreams openly. My office becomes a harbor, a safe and supportive space where they can explore their emotions, understand their unique experiences, and foster resilience to weather life’s storms.

Using creative therapeutic techniques, from art and play therapy to mindfulness exercises, I engage young people in a way that resonates with them. We’ll find their language, whether it’s through drawing their emotions, acting out scenarios, or simply chatting about their day. These methods offer a valuable medium for expression, especially when words might be hard to find.

And if you’re a teenager, you’re on the threshold of adulthood, grappling with the desire for independence while managing the pressures of school, friendships, and maybe even your first job. I’m here to help you gain perspective, build coping strategies, and navigate this transition. I strive to empower you with the tools to understand your thoughts and feelings better, aiding you in the pursuit of self-discovery and self-confidence.

Remember, it’s okay not to have everything figured out, and it’s okay to ask for help. Whether you’re tackling the challenges of growing up or navigating the path to adulthood, I’m ready to embark on this journey with you, offering support, understanding, and the therapeutic tools you need to thrive.

In the words of Brené Brown, “We don’t have to do all of it alone. We were never meant to.”
